The 1774 letter to Fr. Raphael Verger, Guardian of the College of San Fernando, announces the appointment of Fr. Benito Sierra and Fr. Vicento de Santa Maria, chaplains for the exploration of the Pacific Coast north of Monterey, asssigns other Fathers, and details ships and funding (WA MSS 52). The 1775 letter to Fr. Verger and his answer are about the appointment of Fr. Vicente Santa Maria and Fr. Benito Sierra to the packet boats San Carlos and Principe that sailing to California (WA MSS 53).
